May 19 Bike to Work Day: Commute by bicycle into Downtown Modesto! Come for "Bike to Work Day", stay Downtown for the Amgen Race. Ride your bike to 10th Street Plaza between 6:30am-8:30am. May 19 Lifestyle Festival: The Lifestyle Festival, will be located near the finish line of the Amgen Tour of California Professional bike race. It is the place to be for all cycling enthusiasts, racing fans and spectators. There is no better place to experience the spectacle of race day than at the Lifestyle Festival. The festival will feature a health & fitness expo, cancer awareness education, cycling gear, family activities, bike safety, food, entertainment and more! With over 170 booths in Downtown Modesto, there will be plenty to see and do for everyone in your family. Be in Downtown Modesto for an amazing festival and exciting finish to the Stage 4 of the Amgen Tour of California bike race. May 19 Harvest Moon Criterium: This event is organized as an exhibition bicycle race as part of the Amgen Tour of California Lifestyle Festival to be held prior to the Stage 4 arrival in Modesto. Spectators are encouraged to line the Downtown streets and cheer for their local club favorites! The course will overlap part of the actual Amgen Tour Stage 4 route and share the same finish line giving the riders the rare opportunity to experience the look and feel of a pro level event. There will be two races and due to limited parking Downtown, riders will check in at a remote location and ride to the course. Valet bike parking will be available for those who want to stay and watch the Stage 4 arrival of Amgen. The first race begins at 11:30 am. May 19 Breakaway from Cancer Walk: Amgen's Breakaway Mile, honors cancer survivors everywhere. Those touched by cancer – patients, survivors, caregivers and advocates – are invited to join in a one-mile (approximate) walk across the Amgen Tour of California Modesto Stage 4 finish line, prior to the professional riders on May 19, 2010. A special VIP reception and the Gallo Center for the Arts will be held for those walking in the Breakaway Mile. The reception will begin at noon and will showcase valuable resources and services offered by Amgen’s Breakaway from Cancer nonprofit partners. The Breakaway Mile begins at 1 p.m. and afterward, participants will be invited to view the exhilarating finish from a reserved VIP viewing area. Sign up now! May 19 Film: Chasing Legends: The State Theatre presents, Chasing Legends, a feature-length documentary following the HTC-Columbia Professional Bike Riding Team through the 2009 Tour De France. The film is being premiered in key cities at the start of the Amgen Tour of California – including Sacramento and Modesto – before it goes into worldwide distribution.
